This NOAA satellite image taken Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 1:45 p.m. EDT shows widespread, comma shaped cloud coverage over the Southeast that highlights a strong low pressure system moving across Arkansas. The system pulls abundant moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and produces swaths of light to moderate rain showers and heavy rainfall with gusty winds along associated fronts that extend through the Southeast to the Central Gulf Coast and through northern Florida. Colder air behind this system translates into an additional mixture of rain and snow from southern Missouri through eastern Oklahoma and northeastern Texas. Meanwhile to the north, bands of showers in the Ohio Valley move into New England as a frontal boundary becomes stalled over the Northeast.
